Laparoscopic SurgeryAccording to Wikipedia, Laparoscopic surgery is also called keyhole surgery, (when natural body openings are not used), bandaid surgery, or minimally invasive surgery (MIS), and is a surgical technique. Medically, laparoscopic surgery refers only to operations within the abdomen or pelvic cavity. Laparoscopic surgery belongs to the field of endoscopy.When there are no body openings to use then several small incisions are made to give the surgeon access to the area of the body he wants to work on. Laparoscopic surgery techniques allow the use of small instruments such as lights, cameras and very small scalpels and clamps.
Advantages of Laparoscopic SurgeryDue to the small incisions that are made, the healing time is greatly reduced. No large muscles are cut and often people who have this technique used are up and around a long time before people who undergo the more conventional surgery methods.
